Install

Telega Watch is installed from an APK file; it is not in Google Play. It runs on any TV or box with Android TV or Google TV, version 6.0 or newer.

Choose how to install:

On the TV: with Downloader

The easiest way is to download the file right on the TV, with the free Downloader app.

1. Install Downloader from Google Play on the TV.
2. Let it install apps: Settings → Apps → Security & restrictions → Unknown sources, and turn on Downloader. On some models it is Special app access → Install unknown apps.
3. Open Downloader, select the address bar and type telegawatch.ku4er.net. This site opens.
4. Select Download APK, then Install once it has downloaded.
5. Downloader offers to delete the file afterwards. You can: it is no longer needed.

From a phone or computer: with LocalSend

If the APK is already on your phone or computer, send it to the TV over your home Wi-Fi.

1. Install LocalSend on the TV (from Google Play) and on your phone or computer.
2. Make sure both are on the same Wi-Fi network, and open LocalSend on both.
3. Download the APK with the button above on your phone or computer.
4. In LocalSend on the phone, choose Send → File, pick telega-watch.apk and select your TV in the list of devices.
5. On the TV, select Accept.
6. Open the received file in LocalSend and select Install. The first time, the TV asks you to let LocalSend install apps: allow it, as in step 2 for Downloader.

First start

1. Open Telega Watch. It shows a QR code.
2. On your phone, open Telegram → Settings → Devices → Link Desktop Device and scan the code on the TV. If your account has a cloud password, the TV asks for it next.
3. Prefer not to scan? Select Log in with phone number instead, enter your number with the country code, and type the code Telegram sends you.
4. Choose the folders, channels and groups to watch, and select Save. They appear on the home screen as cards.

You can change your sources at any time with the pencil button on the home screen.

Updating

You only install once. When a new version is out, Telega Watch offers it when it starts, or from Settings → Check for updates, and installs it in a couple of presses. The first time, the TV asks you to let Telega Watch install apps: allow it.

What the app sends

Telega Watch talks to Telegram directly from the TV. Besides that, it sends a small, silent heartbeat a few times a day so the author knows how many TVs run which version. The details are on Privacy & disclaimer.
